Christmas Activities!

Oh my goodness, we had soooo much fun planning and delivering our season of Christmas activities and resources.

What was great was that so many of you join us and sent in your photos and videos

We love to collaborate so this really meant the word to us.

We also started thinking about the year ahead and thinking up some innovative new ideas – we cant wait to share them with you!

People always ask us about juggling scarves – usually, what else can we do other than wave them about?

At MakaFun scarves are a key part of everything – from choosing to developing breathing techniques – we feel a series coming on..so here is Part 1 – 5 things to do with scarves!

Enjoy – and as always share with us!

Nursery Rhyme Week 2025

It’s Nursery Rhyme Week and at MakaFun HQ we love signing rhymes and creating learning opportunities .

Look out for our song sheets linked to activity ideas on our website….https://makafun.co.uk/

Meanwhile – We love buses! We have so many different ones – this Marks and Spencers #FunHack is a favourite because,

1. you get to eat the biscuits inside first

2. there’s storage for objects, flashcards and other props!

We can repeat speech sounds, match objects, take turns, develop signs and communication by signing a repeated known rhyme 🚌

Here’s Alice to show you how to make some fantastic art activities around fireworks in preparation for Bonfire Night! πŸ’₯πŸŽ†πŸŽ‡πŸ’«πŸ’₯ I’m sure you’ll find her ideas inspiring for your own planning! (Hot tip! – don’t throw away your pipe cleaners! They can be washed and used again πŸ˜‰) Don’t forget to share your photos and pictures with us! We’d love to see them!

This week we are continuing to theme with the Makaton Charities sign of the week and have some Spooky Halloween Makafun. We have wanted to get together to make a sensory umbrella as a nod to the fantastic  @RichardHirstwood  Training. His legacy for sensory environments continues πŸ₯°πŸ’ It was really easy to add things to the umbrella, making it all equally easy to remove them again (and reuse them again on another project if needed to – continuing with our reuse and sustainable ethos!).

Have lots of Firework Fun with our Breadstick sparklers and Sparkly sensory bag activities.

It was yummy fun all round with our melted chocolate and sprinkles

A simple activity with a yummy end!

Our Croc bag makeover was all about threading skills, developing fine motor skills and hand eye coordination.

Using sparkly pipe cleaners and string lights we can light up the bag like the sky on bonfire night. We added extra light up balls inside the bag for extra effects. We even have a low sensory side and a high sensory side, supporting different needs.

We are experiencing a mast year, where certain trees produce an exceptionally large crop of fruit, nuts, and seeds.

Its a great opportunity to go out collecting and make an autumn sensory basket.

Add more textures with spikey balls, leaves and spiders, or maybe a hibernating hedgehog!
